If you are either currently in a band, or just want to be in a band, the RIVER GROVE BLUEGRASS JAM CAMP, July 7-9, will provide fun for your fingers, exercise for your vocal chords, and a pickin’ good time with your guitar, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, dobro, bass, or harmonica . Hands-on music, sharing tips and tricks, the full weekend of bluegrass fun will be hosted by the Poplar Grove Jam Band (PGJB) in a friendly and comfortable setting at River House Bed & Breakfast Retreat Lodge, located in the Rockford metro area at the top of Illinois.
All musicians wonder and wait for that special moment when a tune comes together in group. If you play in a band now, you know how it feels…And, it’s a great feeling! Maybe the feel has been slow coming lately or you just want to bend your strings with someone else for a change, then this Jam Camp is for you. If you want to know the feel and haven’t been part of a band yet, or just don’t have time for a regular band commitment, then this Jam Camp is for you.
Intermediate to Advanced pickers and songsters are invited. Musicians should be able to change chords, have the ability to play some solos or maybe sing a tune. A band scramble will be the focus for participants as PGJB members coach makeshift ensembles in band dynamics, sound solutions, backup styles, song arrangement, harmony lines, and more. A showcase concert, free to the public, will be staged on Sunday, July 9, at 1:30 pm, for ensembles to share their band scramble accomplishments.
