REVIEW BY MARGARET MOSER OF AUSTIN CHRONICLE "Skimpy production adds immeasurably to the lo-fi charm of Lili & Walter's self-titled CD. The 11 homespun songs hearken to Delaney & Bonnie's Motel Shot (1971), stripped down, casual, and alluring in their bare presentation. Rootsy instrumentation propels their sound through denim-soft originals with a rural gospel flavor ("Shout 5") and gorgeous traditionals ("Poor Wayfaring Stranger")." lili and walter is an acoustic americana duo. Instruments include guitar, harmonica, rhythm, and voice. The duo's debut cd lili and walter, available at Waterloo Records in Austin and online at CD Baby and My Texas Music, includes eight original songs and three folk songs ranging from lyrical ballads to more rocking tunes. Walter has been in various Austin bands including the blues band The Solid Senders, the rockabilly and blues band The Little Giants, the country blues band The Biscuit Rollers, and The Walter White Trio, jazz. The couple most recently performed with the country and conjunto band Rhino Room del Norte, Walter playing harmonica and lili singing, dancing, and playing percussion.
